Adam Scourfield - Musician and Composer
With over 15 years of experience in the entertainment Industry, Adam Scourfield specializes in composition and sound design for all new media productions.

In 2008, Adam started his own production facility: WHITESOUND creating music and sound for film, theatre, TV and corporate marketing.

Having performed in a number of prestigious venues such the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Millennium Dome, Leeds Grand Opera House and the world famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Adam and WHITESOUND are committed to creating a highly professional quality art form.

In addition to his many TV and Film credits, Adam has recently been nominated for the Fedora Award for New Opera by the 'Atelier, la Voce dell’arte' Association, and has begun an affiliation with the Los Angeles based production house; Hollowstone Music.

Ben Whitfield - Musician and Composer
Ben is a musician, composer and engineer who has been writing, playing and recording music for over a decade. His work has covered multiple genres from electronica to extreme metal and he loves to take on the challenge of writing outside his comfort zone.

A multi-instrumentalist, Ben continues to play in numerous bands as well as run his own recording studio. He also lectures in sound recording techniques and computer based music systems.

His interest in video games started with the ZX Spectrum but it was the NES and then SNES that really got him hooked. Still an obsessive old school Nintendo fanatic, Ben was inspired to start writing music for games by his love for anything composed by Koji Kondo, an influence that also spills over into his own music.

Ben splits his time between his SNES and his Xbox, when he hasn't got a guitar in his hands.
Chris Walker - Musician and Composer
Chris is a musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist with a specialism in the guitar. A musician for over 10 years, he graduated with an honours degree in Popular and World Music from Leeds University in 2007.

Day-to-day, Chris freelances as a musician and composer, recently completing a short run of Jason Robert Brown's Tony Award winning musical The Last Five Years at the Carriageworks in Leeds. He plays guitar in many different bands, as well as performing solo gigs playing original songs and cover versions. He also plays drums for a Birmingham based Rhythm 'n' Blues Orchestra. During the summer months he works for Chris Beale Agencies Ltd as a network engineer, providing internet and network solutions for production teams at all the UK music festivals. Last year he took in 13 shows, including Glastonbury, T in the Park and Leeds Festival.

Chris's interest in video games was sparked at an early age with the Sega classic Sonic The Hedgehog. Since then, he has been an avid follower of the video games industry, owning various consoles and enjoying a wide variety of genres. He was first inspired to compose for video games after hearing Nobuo Uematsu's famous soundtrack for the Playstation hit Final Fantasy VII, and Microsoft's XNA development programme has allowed him to fulfil this aspect of his career.

Eduardo Tiexiera - 3D Artist
Eduardo is a 21 and he lives with his wife in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

He works daily as a VFX Artist at GPM, but his goal is to become a great artist in the 3D Market.

Emil Johansson - Concept Artist
Emil is a Swedish artist with aspirations of becoming a professional artist/game designer.

He is currently building up his portfolio and gaining more training and self confidence in his art.

You can usualy find him in his rather cramped room, doodling, drawing or playing some games.

Jenny Peers - 2D Artist
Jenny is currently a student studying computer games design at the University Of Wales, Newport. She has always had a strong interest in art and longs to become a concept artist for the games industry.

In her spare time she works as a freelance web designer and coder as well as listening to music, playing guitar and playing computer games.
Johannes Saari - 3D Artist
Johannes is a self-taught 3D artist from Finland. He has been modelling actively for over 5 years and recently began a career as a freelance 3D artist. He specializes in vehicle modelling and primarily works with 3D Studio Max and Photoshop.

Johannes has always been interested in video games and especially racing/simulations or any games which are somehow related to cars. In his early days he mostly created cars for GTA San Andreas and some other cars for the game Mafia.

Laura Caine - 3D Artist
Laura is currently only a beginner in terms of 3D modelling but she is wanting to learn and work with other modellers and developers on game projects to gain experience and improve her skills.

Laura is a full time mum and feels that modelling in her spare time is a good way of working at home while still taking care of her children. She recently married our Founder and Lead Programmer, Martin Caine who introduced her to 3D modelling and they enjoy working together on projects as it allows them to spend time together while working hard to create our games.

Linus Thorelli - 3D Artist
Linus is a novice 3D artist living in Sweden who dreams of making graphics successful games.
He graduated from Digital Graphics at Nackademin in the summer of 2009.

His tools of the trade are mostly Maya and Photoshop, although he has tried out a few others like ZBrush and 3Dstudio max.

A great interest in games has colored his life and it is this that made him start learning 3D. He is convinced
that consoles (of which he owns all too many) will always beat the PC as a gaming plattform.

On his free time he has been seen training martial arts (Shorinji Kempo), playing video games,
reading books and using his computer.

Mark Pilkington - 3D Artist and Animator
Mark Pilkington spent 5 years working for an award winning games developer and movie special effects company in Newcastle working on games like 'Big Muther Truckers' and 'PDC World Championship Darts' developing these titles for PSP, WII and Xbox 360.

Mark has also been involved in 3D special effects for two of Danny Boyle's movies 'Sunshine' and '28 Weeks Later'.

Mark is now a full time counsellor working with people suffering with mental health issues and devotes his spare time to creating art for Retroburn Games titles.
Martin Caine, Founder and Lead Programmer
Martin founded Retroburn Game Studios in 2009 in an effort to form a collaboration of amateur developers and artists with a view to break into the games industry.

Martin is currently working on writing a base engine which will form the bulk of the code for Retroburn Game Studios' games.

Martin's interest in game development goes all the way back to his first taste of programming on a ZX Spectrum home computer and he has been an avid programmer and gamer ever since. He has worked on games for multiple platforms over the years as an amateur programmer and developer. He has programming experience in a variety of languages including C/C++, C# and Assembly. He also has an interest in art, especially digital imagery and 3D modelling.

Martin's current day job is working as Technical Manager for Who-Remembers-Me.com (WRM Media). In this role he manages and maintains the web site and all it's related functions. He has worked at Who-Remembers-Me.com for over 5 years and has always kept an interest in game development, working on small projects in his spare time.

Now with the formation of Retroburn Game Studios and a new found enthusiasm for game development using XNA Game Studio, Martin is pushing ahead with the development of a number of games for Xbox Live Community Games. He believes there is a market for high quality, polished games and he hopes to build a community of fans around the games and promote the professional quality work carried out by all contributors on Retroburn Game Studios' projects.

Martin recently got married in August 2009 and currently lives in England with his Wife Laura and their two children, Damien and Willow. The game 'See and Learn' was inspired by some of Damien's learning toys and was originally planned to be a game just for him to play but has now been expanded to appeal to parents and children alike.
Michael Crossley - 3D Artist and Animator
Mike is a computer game fanatic living in the UK. Ever since he switched on his first computer he has had an ambition to become a video game designer.

He first started working with mapping and modelling on a mod for the Lucas Arts game Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. From there he has been a modder for other games such as Half-Life 2 and Crysis.

He is now building his porfolio of work and is working his way up into the games industry itself in the hopes of becoming a full time game designer.

Neil Sutcliffe - 2D Artist
Neil specialises in both graphics design and sound. He has studied a foundation degree at the University for Sound Engineering & Design and is capable of recording and mixing audio in his home studio. He has done design work including websites and advertisements. A self taught designer, Neil works completely electronically without using traditional media. Neil has worked with wedding firms, recording studios and games companies to produce custom design work and also does some freelance work.

Neil currently is doing graphics and video work for Manchester based production firm Top Dog Multimedia. In his spare time Neil plays guitar, composes electronica music and occasionally dabbles in photography.

Oscar Hasengruber - 3D Artist
Oscar was born in Paraguay in South America, he's a self-taught 3D artist with particularly strong interests in games 3D desing and programming.

Oscar first began learning 3D design in 2006 and has now been creating professional architectural visualizations for over 2 years.

In his spare time Oscar enjoys playing the guitar, making models and renders, and he is currently learning programming.

Peter Berkovski - 2D Artist
Peter is a 26 year old self-taught artist. He is currently studying classical animation in Rober Popov's atelier in Bulgaria.

He has always been inspired and influenced by the great artists, especially in CG and digital art.

Since discovering many forums and websites devoted to digital art, Peter had become enchanted with the work of those who post and began creating digital art work himself and now has his own blog.

He is now developing his skills into further areas, including cartoons and more realistic styles and trying to find his identity somewhere there.

Peter is currently working on story-board style art work that will be used in Shadow Racers.
Rico Hottewitzsch - 3D artist
Rico is a 20 year old student from Germany who enjoys creating game related 3d art in his freetime.

In the past he has created many maps for games such as Unreal Tournament and Command and Conquer Generals. In 2006 he started to teach self-learning 3D Studio Max and Photoshop and soon began to specialize in creating vehicle models. He has created dozens of vehicles and other elements for games like GTA SA, GTA IV, Mafia, Need for Speed and World Racing.

He is currently attending the Games Academy in Berlin with the hope that he will find a career as a vehicle or environment artist at the end of the 4th semester in August 2011.

Simon Caine - Musician and Composer
Si has been a fan of video games since a very young age but has never before worked on one. He is the brother of our Founder and Lead Programmer, Martin Caine. Martin and Si have been writing and recording music together for a few years and so Si has been giving the chance to create the music for Shadow Racers.

Si has been playing guitar for only four and a half years but he was a complete natural right from the start and now enjoys writing material for his bands and gigging with his band Roadkill.

Si is currently studying Music Tech and Drama in Wakefield, England and is hoping to go on to college to learn more about Producing and Recording.
Tianyu Wang - 3D Artist
Tianyu is an undergraduate at ILIS studying Game Art and. Becoming a game designer has been his dream job since he played his first online video game in 2007.

Tianyu has experience working with many forms of digital and hand-drawn art. He is currently working as a 3D Artist, Graphic Designer, and Concept Artist in his free time. He is always looking for any opportunities that will help him improve his skills or learn new skills that he cannot learn in a classroom.

Games are a major part of Tianyu's life. He is hoping to get a job in game industry, so he can work on the kind of games he enjoys playing.
